Robert Kubica Using KERS for Friday Practice in China
By
For the first time this season Robert Kubica will be testing his car with the KERS device. Up until now he has been unable to use it due to the extra weight which affects ballast placement and ultimately the balance of the car and tire wear.
Shanghai International Circuit is a bit different than Melbourne or Malaysia with it’s extremely long straight along with one other very long straight and very much more suited to KERS.
I have mentioned in an earlier post that BMW Sauber are working on a weight management system which is speculated to be a lighter chassis, but this improvement is not being used this weekend in China.
“We will have to test and see”.
“For sure we have seen this from our view, especially in Malaysia but also in Australia, it was an advantage.“The balance of the car is the issue,”
“We will see – a lot will depend on that and the grip level.”
Robert will be testing the KERS device in Friday practice and if all goes well, into Saturday as well. As far as using the device during the race, that depends on how well Friday practice goes.

He’s just testing the value of KERS for Shanghai circuit and they will go from there. It may help, it may not. The diffuser will take more time so we wait and see.

I am not sure the KERS does make a great difference. I do wonder why it will take so long for the new diffusers to be developed, from what I heard the recent decision this week was no surprise you would think, especially the big teams, would have already had something in the pipeline.
Gregs last blog post..No coding or posting for over a week isn’t good
