Low Light and Rain a Worry for Kubica + Lap of Sepang With Heidfeld
ByHere’s the weather forecast I captured just now. Doesn’t look promising, but I hope all we see is the clouds like in the video.

It’s not only the weather that can turn things upside down, but the weather combined with the 5pm start time of the race. Robert Kubica, one of many other drivers is voicing his opinion on the 5pm start times. Australia was difficult and perhaps dangerous although nothing happened because of the light conditions. Albert Park was for the most part surrounded by trees that cast long shadows over the circuit causing some crazy light conditions, but Sepang doesn’t. That’s about the only reprieve the drivers will have in these light conditions and is overshadowed by the serious threat of rain.
Here’s what Kubica says about the 5pm start times:
“In Australia it was a big issue with the visibility at the end of the race, it was very poor, especially in the last sector,” he said. “It was quite dangerous, even very dangerous.
“Here by postponing the race you have a higher probability of rain but we will see. It will be cloudy and rainy, most likely it will be very dark, if there will be no rain but it’s sunny we might have the same problems as in Australia with very low sun.”
If there were to be a serious accident caused by poor light conditions there will be no more 5pm start times. The idea of amusing the European audience to boost TV viewers is ok, but a low sun and crazy shadows is another. Add heavy rain to the mix and it is a dangerous situation. I truly hope this doesn’t happen, but ‘tombstone justice” is the norm.

Looks like a nice fast track, so hopefully we’ll see the BMW’s pace come to the fore this weekend. Fingers crossed that the rain holds off for everyone concerned
