Theissen and Mosley Talk KERS….hmm
By
Mario Theissen is a great fan of KERS right? We know that and so is Max Mosley, but that’s where it ends and so it should. Mosley doesn’t like the idea of the electric KERS system and Mario Theissen obviously does as it’s the one installed in the F1.09 and recently they exchanged words through the media on the subject that were most interesting.
At the F1.09 launch, Mario Theissen said that he felt the flywheel KERS technology had really no application for the road car industry etc.
When this was presented to Mosley from the media, he had this to say:
“Well, he probably hasn’t thought it through. He would be right if there were battery/super capacitor combinations that were very close to being practical – but all the information is that there isn’t. All these cars – you get these electric cars but if you drive them fast they just don’t have the energy. Good old Mario, but I think he may have got that wrong.”
Theissen had his own response to Mosley’s statement by saying:
“It is good that Max is learning about the engineering sides of the car,
“I think with a little further understanding he may soon know as much as Flavio Briatore.”
He must have been referring to Briatore saying that they are opening the door to something they don’t know and don’t know what it will cost and don’t know if it is dangerous or not and it doesn’t seem it will bring any good and saying there is only one team determined to push KERS through.
Well we know who that team is don’t we.
Theissen’s quote has got to be the quote of the week. Did Mosley really stick his foot in his mouth again? Of course he did. Dr. Mario Theissen has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and could run circles around Mosley on the technical side of KERS at any time.

Good old Mario indeed! Dr. Mario’s response to Max clearly shows wit and a sense of humor we do not often get to see.

It made me laugh when I read this, but you have to say that Max does give us a lot to laugh about.
Keep your pants on Max.

I wonder if Toyota is trying to keep costs down, it still isn’t doing well and we alway hear rumours that they will pull out if they do not see results. They maybe reducing costs and looking to become an engine supplier??? Also their road going hybrid doesn’t really fit in with the initial KERS systems.

Mosley knows best, no matter what topic, when he says Dr Theissen got it wrong then it must be the case
