KERS Strikes Fear in F1 Drivers
By
KERS safety once again guys. The fact is that safety is always a concern no matter what is developed in F1 so it’s no wonder there is a lot of chatter about the 2 incidents involving KERS. Today it’s Mark Webber’s turn to echo the fears of the drivers and he has a point, but I don’t buy into the reasons and the reasons quite honestly are a ‘little out there’.
What Webber is stating is that there should be great concern about the potential danger to driver and crew because of a rumor that BMW Sauber haven’t a clue what the problem is. Probably, and the most likely scenario at BMW is that they are working at fully understanding the source of the problem and will release details when they have them. I tend to believe this more than what is rumored, but that’s just me.
My fear about the development is that it is being rushed a little to fast. 2009 is not that far off and serious issues have come up and that to me says that everyone should take a step back and re think their time line. 2010 sounds good and gives the teams time to develop this technology properly and safely. I’m not suggesting that rushing the development was the root of the blame for these incidents, but may be a contributing factor.
